Our 4×4 vehicles widen our horizons, making it possible to travel the roads, parks and passes of our Country. By using GPS navigation or a compass and maps we are able to go places and be assured that we find our way without getting lost.
In our Club we make use mainly of Garmin GPS devices that can navigate routes and waypoints using satellite information. The use of GPS navigation is also an integral aspect of our Off-Road Rescue (ORRU) operations.
Members of our Club are encouraged to make use of MAPSOURCE and BASECAMP to plan and plot routes. Sharing these skills with fellow club members is also important to ensure that skills are maintained. On a regular basis, as the need arises, GPS navigation training is provided by fellow club members.
