Welcome to the website of the Western Cape Division of the Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa, a family orientated recreational 4×4 club that supports and enjoy responsible off-road driving. We are involved in family four wheel driving, driver education and emergency search & rescue operations. We are an off-roading club based in the Western Cape area run by our members and an elected Committee. Become a member and our club is your club where we will do our best to meet your needs.

The Off-Road Rescue Unit, a division of the Four Wheel Drive Club, is primarily a logistic support organization. Members of the unit are trained to provide off-road transport and communications, for any emergency or disaster situation. We provide a professional and efficient service to facilitate the smooth and efficient running of an operation for the ultimate benefit of the patient.

Please be advised the severity of the forecasted storm has been escalated from an initial Level 4-6, up to a Level 9.

The Western Cape Provincial Disaster Management Centre has been fully activated.

The weather system is a “Cut-Off Low”, which draws gale-force winds – known as a “Black South-Easter” – which have wreaked havoc in the past.

Flooding, mud-slides and rock-falls are among the potential dangers, authorities have warned.

Members of the public are urged to take careful decisions about outdoor activities.

Outdoor-lovers are cautioned to take extreme care in the current “Black South-Easter” wind conditions – due to last several days.
The “Cut-Off Low” weather system has brought powerful winds – which may affect safety and visibility across the Western Cape.
This may be followed by heavy downpours and potential flooding from Saturday, April 6.

Outdoor enthusiasts are urged to be careful of:

* Lack of visibility
* Flash-floods in streams and rivers
* Dangerous coastline conditions
